On April 3, 2015, MIREA Open Day was held at the Istok Cultural center in the city of Fryazino. An interactive augmented reality application was developed especially for the event. The application introduces future applicants to the MIREA branch, talks about the specialties in which the training is conducted, talks about the advantages over other educational institutions.
Interaction with the user takes place with the help of an information booklet, which could be obtained at the open day. A special camera recognizes the image of the booklet and monitors gestures of the person holding it. By moving booklet left or right, user thereby scrolls through the information of interest displayed on the screen.
After getting to know the MIREA branch, the user is invited to take a photo. The application tracks the position of the visitor's heads and puts a cap on them. Received photos are sent to an interactive kiosk, where user has the opportunity to view the photos taken, send them by mail, post on social networks or print on a special sublimation printer.
From a technical point of view, the installation consists of a large display, a computer, a web camera and a stand with a freestanding tablet and printer - an interactive kiosk. From a software standpoint, the application consists of two modules: an interactive application written in C# using Unity, and a web application running on an Android tablet.
