Awesome firefight racing game in cyberpunk style

«Cyberline racing» game for mobile devices

My career started in a gaming company. All my childhood, I, probably like many in our profession, dreamed that I would become a programmer and make computer games. After graduating from university, I started looking for work in the game industry. Magicindie Softworks was the starting point of my career. I was impressed that the company already had several hits under its belt and wanted to join their team.

At that time, the company had three projects: a board card game, a casual game about airplanes and racing game with firefight for mobile devices. I was hired for the Cyberline Racing project, a cyberpunk-style racing with firefight. There were four programmers in the team, and a large team of artists and designers.

As part of my work, I managed to take part in many aspects of development. I worked on the implementation of gameplay elements, wrote shaders in HLSL/GLSL. Together with designers, I created special effects of explosions and flames escaping from the exhaust pipes. I happened to work on some of the UI screens. I have integrated social components based on GameCenter and Facebook into the game. Particularly exciting was the creation of physics and effects of various types of weapons for cars, as well as the procedural generation of the sound of a running engine.

It was a truly amazing experience, where I, not yet experienced enough, was given the opportunity to look at software development from many different angles.

Unfortunately, the game was not successful among publishers, the company's own budget was depleted, and there was nowhere to wait for new investments. I left the company without waiting for bankruptcy. After I left the company, the game was still published in Google Play and App Store, but was later removed from there. The game is currently available on Steam.
